Turkey Car Insurance for Campervans and Motorhomes: Complete Guide

Turkey is one of the most popular overlanding destinations in the world — stunning coastline, affordable camping, and a climate that makes year-round van life possible. But before you cross the border in your campervan or motorhome, there's one thing you absolutely must have: valid Turkish motor insurance.

In Turkey's insurance classification, campervans and motorhomes fall under the "Trucks & Campers" vehicle category — not the passenger car category. This is important because it affects the price of your policy.

The insurance you need is the same: Zorunlu Trafik Sigortası (Turkey MTPL). It provides third-party liability coverage for damage or injury you cause to others while driving in Turkey. The only difference is the rate — campervans cost more to insure than passenger cars due to their size and weight.

A Green Card can cover a campervan in Turkey — but only under the same conditions as for any other vehicle. The TR code must be present on the policy and not crossed out, and the policy must cover your entire stay.

However, there are additional considerations for campervan owners:
