How the Green Card system treats non-EU plates
The Green Card is a standardised certificate linking national motor bureaux. For non-European vehicles, participation depends on your registration country, not where you buy fuel. Some states issue cards routinely; others leave drivers to buy an accepted frontier policy before the EU border.

After a transatlantic or North Sea ferry
Cars from the US and Canada often arrive by ship or North Sea ferry. The ticket and any marine cargo policy cover the crossing and the container — not compulsory motor third-party liability on European roads. Once the car is unloaded, you still need Europolis (or another recognised road policy) before you drive. A ferry is not a Green Card.
UAE and GCC plates
There is no home Green Card from the UAE that EU borders accept as EU motor cover. Search results for “shipping a car from Dubai” are usually cargo quotes, not our offer and not road TPL.
